What do I need to do to have an abortion here?

Email your name, date of birth, NHI number (if known), and safe contact details.
For early surgical abortion (first trimester) - refer to Epsom Day Unit and Auckland Medical Aid Clinic
For later surgical abortion (second trimester) - refer to Epsom Day Unit or Middlemore Hospital.
What will it cost?
Cost for New Zealand citizen/resident
Free abortion services to any pregnant person eligible for publicly funded healthcare in New Zealand who is a resident of Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Counties Manukau and Waitematā districts. There may be prescription fees and costs for ultrasound.
Cost for non-New Zealand resident
- Early Medical Abortion: $1,400.
There may be prescription fees and additional costs for bloods and/or ultrasound.

Accessibility
There is free parking available at the Manukau Super Clinic, including mobility parking.
The facility is on the first floor. It is fully wheelchair accessible, with level access from the entrance and lifts to the first floor. There is braille in the lift.
There is a bus stop available on Great South Rd, 2-4 mins walk away.
Access to Middlemore is through the Galbraith Building or train station entrance. The clinic is on the first floor, with lift access. The lift buttons have braille.
If you have accessibility needs, please let the clinic know ahead of your appointment.
Translation services
Translation services are available. Please let the clinic know that you will need translation support.

There is a female practitioner at this service.
Contraception
Contraception available through this clinic.
- Contraception prescriptions.
- Free contraception service available after abortion.
- A Depo Provera injection can be given at the same time as the first medication if you are having an early medical abortion.
- An implant can be inserted at the same time as the first medication if you are having an early medical abortion.
Counselling
Counselling is available but isn't required. Abortion decision, pre-abortion, and post-abortion counselling can be provided in person or virtually.
